CREWE, Va – As of 2:52 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, all known, storm-related power outages caused when Winter Storm Petra moved through Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) territory have been restored.
At the peak of the event on Wednesday, Feb. 20, nearly 5,000 SEC members lost power.
SEC wishes to sincerely thank our members for their patience during the extended outage event.
SEC also thanks mutual aid and contract crews assisting SEC with restoration: Jackson Energy Cooperative (Kentucky), Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative and South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, Lee Electrical Construction, Inc and Townsend Tree Service.
While all storm-related outages have been restored at this time, lingering effects from the heavy ice on trees may cause additional outages over the next few days. Members experiencing outages should contact the Cooperative at 1-866-878-5514.
